چکیده

With the growing size and complexity of software systems, software verification and validation (V&V) is becoming increasingly important. Model checking and testing are two of the main V&V methods. In this paper, we present a framework that allows for testing and formal modeling and analysis to be combined. More precisely, we describe a framework for model checking and testing implicit invocation software. The framework includes a new programming language – the Implicit Invocation Language (IIL), and a set of formal rule-based transformation tools that allow automatic generation of executable and formal verification artifacts. We evaluate the framework on several small examples. We hope that our approach will advance the state-ofthe-art in V&V for event-based systems. Moreover, we plan on using it to explore the relationship between testing and model checking implicit invocation systems and gain insight into their combined benefits.

Testing and Model Checking Implicit-Invocation Systems Using Automated Transformation1

In this paper, we present a framework that allows for testing and model checking of implicit-invocation systems. The framework includes a new programming language – the Implicit-Invocation Language (IIL), and a set of formal rule-based transformation tools that allow automatic generation of executable and formal verification artifacts. We provide details on the design of these formal rule-based...

Using source transformation to test and model check implicit-invocation systems

In this paper we present a source transformation-based framework to support uniform testing and model checking of implicit-invocation software systems. The framework includes a new domain-specific programming language, the Implicit-Invocation Language (IIL), explicitly designed for directly expressing implicit-invocation software systems, and a set of formal rule-based source transformation too...

Model Checking Implicit-Invocation Systems: An Approach to the Automatic Analysis of Architectural Styles

In general, model checking and other finite-state analysis techniques have been very successful when used with hardware systems and less successful with software systems. It is especially difficult to analyze software systems developed with the implicitinvocation architectural style because the loose coupling of their components increases the size of the finite state model. It is the goal of th...

Towards a Formal Treatment of Implicit Invocation

Implicit invocation [SN92,GN91] has become an important architectural style for large-scale system design and evolution. This paper addresses the lack of speci cation and veri cation formalisms for such systems. A formal computational model for implicit invocation is presented. We develop a veri cation framework for implicit invocation that is based on Jones' rely/guarantee reasoning for concur...

Coastal Water Level Prediction Model Using Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System

This paper employs Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) to predict water level that leads to flood in coastal areas. ANFIS combines the verbal power of fuzzy logic and numerical power of neural network for its action. Meteorological and astronomical data of Santa Monica, a coastal area in California, U. S. A., were obtained. A portion of the data was used to train the ANFIS network, wh...
